tribute to mothers, remembering mother

To our mothers we owe the tribute expressed here:
" If in this life success I gain,
Should I receive some earthly fame,
May God forbid that I should praise some other name,
Or credit give another,
When I owe it to my mother.
Perhaps two ways are offered me,
And I stand between the twain,
Wondering which at last to gain,
I'll take the cross and not the other,
For I had a godly mother.
And if I am faithful, and saved at last,
Completed well my earthly stay,
May I in looking o'er the past,
By telling angels as they hover
That I am here because of Mother"

This is beautifully stated in a paragraph which appeared in the Signs of the Times, November 3, 1881.

The page is from the original printed book that I decoupaged on the salvaged hard bound cover of the book "Under the Guiding Hand" by Doctors Karss (missionary husband and wife team) published and copyrighted in 1941
by the College Press

"Me and Mama"
about 5 x 6 inches mixed media collage art
The daughter and mother sitting on a bench illustration is from a print ad published in November 2007 by
CVS Pharmacy, and the rest are hand painted and embellished.

While the hard bound book covers are from the book "The nearer and the Farther East" by S.M Zwemee and Arthur Brown. Published by Mcmillan Co. Copyright 1908. Amazing I should say...

The materials are of 1908 salvaged hard bound book covers. Discarded and are in a severe state of disintegration. My heart melts at these more than 100 year old discarded books. Perhaps the former owners preferred to pass on the burden---of dust mites? :D seriously, these cannot be in the circulation anymore, for mere turn of a page, simply crumbles and does a "self-tearing act". I have tried to salvage the best part(s) and made an art out of them---for they are in fact a physical, animate memory of the past, as we are now into the  --- "vernacular" type of
learning, entertainment and entertaining,as wells as socialising, with the multi-media system in full swing, like it or not.
